Video of Enfield Public Comment Meeting Regarding A Ban on Hydrofracking

Dear Enfield Neighbors,


Thank you so much to all of the Enfield residents (approximately 200!) who came out on Wednesday evening to voice their concerns regarding hydrofracturing in the Town of Enfield. We were overwhelmed and impressed by all of your passionate expressions of concern to the Town Board and your fellow community members. Seventy-four people stepped up to the mic!

We are Enfield!

ENSAW would like to thank the Enfield Town Board for respecting the request of 900 resident petition signers for further inquiry into the possibility of a ban on hydrofracturing. Immediate action by the Board will be critical in protecting our community from the dangers of hydrofracturing and industrialization.

Enfield Legal Presentations

On November 17th, Town of Enfield residents gathered to learn the risks and opportunities available to us regarding a ban or moratorium on hydrofracking in our community. 

Excellent presentations by both Guy Krogh, Enfield's Town attorney, of Thaler and Thaler, and attorney David Slottje of the Community Environmental Defence Council, were viewed by over 150 residents.

Legal Issues for Land Owners

Land owners have a particular interest in the development of gas drilling in our area whether they have a gas lease or not.  The Cornell Cooperative Extension held a forum addressing this topic and has provided video of the event. 

Topics in  part 1 include Gas Leases and Real Property Law by Randy Marcus, Esq.; Regulatory Issues and Pipelines by Helen Slottje, Esq.; Compulsory Integration, Landman Tactics & Tips by Jane Welsh, Esq. and Landowner Issues & Coalitions by Guy Krogh, Esq. Part 2 is the question and answer session that followed the presentations. Gas Drilling in Enfield's Marcellus: The Process and the Law

Enfield Neighbors for Safe Air & Water welcomed two speakers on Monday, March 22nd to the Enfield Grange on Enfield Main Road. The public was invited to a presentation to help Enfield residents and community members better understand the process of natural gas drilling and the legal issues involved. We heard more about how drilling is done, the potential impact on our air and water, lease basics and landowner liability. Speakers were Helen Slottje, Attorney at Law,working for Community Environmental Defense Council, Inc., a nonprofit environmental law firm based in Ithaca, and Bill Podulka, Ph.D, Co-Director of The Marcellus Accountability Project.
